Eddie Elizondo
After 10+ years working in data science and analytics roles at consulting firms and startups, I started Better Optima to support operations analytics projects more efficiently. My experience covers the full data science development lifecycle, from strategy to data & analytics technical development to change management. AI projects require these diverse skills, and consulting firms often segregate roles, increasing cost. That means many viable projects are left behind in favor of 1-2 mega implementations - a risky approach. On the other hand, advanced analytics is difficult to commoditize, and SaaS solutions often underdeliver on expected value. A truly integrated offering with a lean team (one to few people) building advanced, custom tools will result in faster deployments that deliver greater value. That is my focus. I bring well-rounded technical and strategic experience building AI and digital solutions to operations across industries, from dozens of projects in all environments, from F100 companies to startups, for high growth and turnaround situations.

- The first data scientist hire at an on-demand delivery startup, designing & implementing scheduling, routing, and dispatching algorithms
- Expert & team leader at McKinsey for operations and data science (especially optimization and simulation), with a focus on manufacturing and supply chain planning and lean ops

I’m flexible on programming languages and tools to use the technologies that work best for each case. Past projects have included work in Julia, Python, SQL, Java, Go, R, Azure, Gurobi, and COIN-OR.
